Head of Product Development, Automotive

Location: Loughborough

Salary - £85,000 per annum with additional benefits

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the product development efforts within the Automotive Product development team
- Oversee the technical development and integration of fuel cells for use in a wide range of automotive applications.
- Lead a team that encompasses product development across different product ranges within the automotive sector, including passenger cars, commercial vehicles, buses, and trucks.
- Provide technical direction and define roadmaps for product development, ensuring alignment with future projects and innovations.
- Interface with OEMs and other external parties, requiring strong communication and negotiation skills to manage expectations and relationships effectively.

What experience do I need:

Demonstrable Auto Product Development Experience: Proven track record in automotive product development, especially with electric and hybrid vehicles. Experience with the entire lifecycle from prototype to commercialization is essential.
Technical Leadership: Ability to provide clear technical direction and roadmap development. Must possess a deep understanding of both mechanical and electrical engineering principles.
Strong People Leadership: Experience leading and developing technical teams. Must be capable of nurturing talent and leading through technical leads to achieve project goals.
Innovative Thinking and Problem Solving: A degree of innovation is required to see the bigger picture and manage the deployment of automotive technology in new applications, such as stationary power units.
Excellent Communication and Stakeholder Management: Must be credible and confident in front of OEMs and senior management, with the ability to manage expectations and negotiate effectively.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field 
- A focus on product development within an automotive environment ideally with experience in hybrid, electric or fuel cell technologies considered a strong plus
