Purchasing and Demand Manager (116dm) – Belper, Derbyshire – £30K-£35K DOE + Benefits

Our client has asked us to find a new key member of their team, as they are experiencing a period of significant growth.

The company is predominantly engaged in supporting Government customers and allied industries by researching and developing disruptive security technologies that have truly game changing attributes.

DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS RECRUITMENT CONSULTANCY, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO REPRESENT INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE EX MILITARY.

Candidates must have an active Security Clearance (SC) and have sole British Nationality.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The successful candidate will take the forecasted shipments from the sales team and, working with the production team, ensure that raw material stock levels are managed such that the business is able to fulfil its delivery obligations.

There are stringent controls on our purchasing activities and working alongside our quality team ensuring supplier compliance is an essential aspect.

This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate to be able to carry out a range of tasks including supplier management, purchasing and stock control, against often long lead times.

As a new dedicated position within their expanding business there are opportunities for the candidate to be involved in evolving the role to help fulfil our aspirations and so experience working in similar roles will be of significant benefit. As part of the role the main roles and responsibilities will include:

•Purchasing of component parts, equipment and services as required by the company across all departments.

•Responsibility for the implementation and upkeep of MRP systems such that they provide up to date and accurate information.

•Carrying out and reporting of the stock position both throughout the year and for annual stock takes.

•Work with the finance team to provide accurate reporting and forecasting.

•Working with suppliers to identify cost savings through process changes, MOQs, Lead times, and continuous improvement strategies.

•Working with the R&D teams to identify new suppliers and take the lead in negotiating the necessary commercial contracts and security arrangements.

•Work across departments to gather forecast information and put purchasing, supplier delivery and production strategies in place to ensure that we can meet our delivery commitments.

•Work to secure the best possible costs and supply arrangements with our suppliers, minimising our stock holding where possible.

•In collaboration with our quality team ensure that suppliers are qualified, managed and audited in line with our quality plans.

•In collaboration with the R&D team ensure that NPI is scheduled and carried out smoothly ensuring that all the component parts, processes and strategies are in place and on time.

•Provide monthly and yearly KPIs showing performance and efficiency of the stock position and supplier performance.

•Provide accurate costing of products and variance over time and estimates of future changes.

Required Technical Skills and Experience

•CIPS level 3+ qualified.

•Minimum of 2 years experience working within an electronic manufacturing environment.

Conditions

•The nature of this role requires the candidate to be a British Citizen as well as obtaining and retain an unconditional DV security clearance.

•This role is predominantly office based although there is some limited opportunity for home working.

•Travel within the UK, including between company sites, may be required.
